Empress is a Chinese restaurant with a very contemporary decoration setting in the Asian Civilization Museum by the Singapore River. My friend recommended me this place as they have a vegetarian menu. It is a traditional Chinese cuisine with many vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, so you can enjoy going with anyone.
The interesting thing about this place is all the plates are made for sharing, this way you enjoy the taste and the culture and at the same time try different dishes with your loved ones. The terrace is surrounded by plants, which makes a very calm and a soothing environment. You can enjoy the nice view of the Singapore buildings and the river. When you first enter you feel like is a bite pricy but when looking at the menu it is really affordable! Surprised, right?
As I was the only vegetarian, I did not have a chance to share but I did take an appetizer, main course and a desert (yes it was a bite too much but soooo good).
For the appetizer I had a trio of appetizers that had crispy asparagus-Mango-Vermicelli Roll, Sweet & Sour Vegetarian Char Siew & Steamed Mushroom Dumpling. On the picture it looks a bite experimental but once I ordered it my mouth had a huge taste satisfaction!
For the main plate I had this crispy-battered tofu patties. To be honest I did not understand what I was ordering but I was happily surprised. It gave me a flash back of fish sticks that my mother made for me when I was a child. It had a lot of flavor and was full of texture.
For the desert I had a Bubur Char-Char which is a coconut pudding with sweet potatoes, yam, banana & shaved salted coconut Ice. It was very fresh but a bite too heavy after my two first plats.
I am normally not a very big fan of Chinese food because in my opinion the vegetarian recipes do not have a lot of taste but I truly recommend you to go to this restaurant, I had an amazing dinner, the food was delicious and it worth the money!
